Replacement of electrical components

High quality, delivery -reliability and occupational safety

Energieversorgung Offenbach AG (EVO AG) commissioned the SAG Power Plants/Industrial Technology branch in Essen for replacing electrical components in the waste-fueled power plant in Offenbach.

The work was carried out between August 2012 and February 2013. Among other things, the project involved replacing 20 low-voltage switchgear units and installing over four kilometers of cable routes.
“The switchover of the cable and switching stations, and the commissioning process all had to be done within just one week,” -explains Roland Staubitz, head of the Power Plants department. The power plant was shut down during this period. “That meant we had to work in shifts. At the same time, the project required comprehensive measures to ensure adequate site supervision.” At peak times, twelve to fifteen employees were on site to implement the project from their location in the Biblis nuclear power plant.

The waste-fueled power plant in Offenbach is operated by Energieversorgung Offenbach AG. It incinerates around 250,000 tons of household waste each year to provide energy in the form of up to 13 megavolt amperes (MVA) of electricity and up to 36 megawatts (MW) for district heating supplies.
